We are looking for a motivated, ambitious and independent research assistant to join the group of Professor Maria Grazia Spillantini at Cambridge University, to investigate in a new transgenic mouse model, the progression of alpha-synuclein pathology from gut to brain as a primary mechanism of pathology and as a target for novel therapies for Parkinson's Disease.
The positions are funded by a grant from the the Aligning Science Across Parkinson's (ASAP) partnering with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's of which Prof John Hardy at UCL is the principle investigator. The work will be done in collaborations with groups at UCL, Oxford University and Royal Veterinary College and will be seeking to understand why Parkinson's progresses and spreads through the brain at a variable rate.

This role will involve pharmacological in vivo treatments and mouse behavior as well as methods such as immunohistochemistry, protein chemistry, proteomics, transcriptomics, single cell analysis. The successful candidates will work in close contact with the collaborators in the grant and will interact with other national and international groups holding ASAP grants.
